Applications for Property Management
Ask ClearMesh

For property managers, broadband access is becoming a top priority. According to the International Engineering Consortium (IEC), over 42% percent of all tenants rank built-in wiring for high-speed Internet access as one of their most desired business features. While building owners, managers and local carriers try to keep up with the demand for high-speed access, tenants are quickly outgrowing the bandwidth constraints of DSL and T1 circuits with the ever increasing dependency on web-based and media-rich applications.

The good news is that once high-capacity bandwidth does reach the buildings and tenant, there are a host of value-added services that a landlord can offer that help drive up the cost per square foot and increase tenant loyalty.

With the increased awareness of security, property management firms are envisioning indoor and outdoor surveillance of building entries, parking garages, points-of-sale and critical equipment locations, all based on IP Video Streaming (IPVS) solutions. However, rendering local monitoring and recording solutions for often dozens of buildings in a metro area is cost, personnel and service intensive. Centralizing these functions across an IP network would provide significant cost savings, if the IP network itself doesn't require prohibitive investment levels.

While providing superior surveillance, a major competitive plus, companies can lease out bandwidth to Service Providers or tenants to enable VoIP, IPTV and high-speed multimedia services. Additionally, once such a network is available, centralized low-speed applications, such as access control, HVAC management, sensor networks or other security applications will be a straightforward extension of this new building IT network.

The underlying network infrastructure across an entire office park or a larger municipal area that supports a converged network infrastructure requires fiber-like service capacity. However, trenching and pulling a fiber infrastructure involves significant costs and limits the speed of deployment. The new Sentry Mesh™ solution from ClearMesh slashes deployment costs, provides wireless flexibility to reach IPVS camera locations throughout a city or office park, and offers fiber-like capacity in support of a host of IT and security applications.
